During their visit, the Gaisce group had the opportunity to meet with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Speaking after the visit, MEP Walsh said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;Gaisce isn\u2019t just a milestone, it\u2019s a movement. One that builds confidence, courage, and connection in every corner of Ireland. I was proud to welcome participants from Midlands-North West and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this programme. Gaisce has inspired young people and celebrated their potential for four decades in Ireland, influencing the lives and careers of many.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was delighted to introduce the group to Roberta Metsola, an incredible opportunity for the young Irish people to meet directly with the President of the Parliament. The group shared their Gaisce work and President Metsola praised them for their dedication to personal growth and civic engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth representatives from AsIAm, Ireland\u2019s autism charity, were also hosted by MEP Maria Walsh in the European Parliament, where CEO Adam Harris addressed the Parliament\u2019s Intergroup on Disabilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MEP Walsh said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHosting AsIAm and supporting Adam Harris in his inspiring work was a privilege. We need to ensure neurodivergent young people are not only heard but central to our policymaking. These young advocates reminded all of us in the Parliament that inclusion must be more than a policy &#8211; it must be a practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was truly inspired by their commitment to change and positive leadership. These young people are making a huge difference and are an example to us all in living with conviction and determination.
